I have also made handbags in free form (not using a pattern) starting off with a basic idea of what I want to make, but very often it seems to go its own way and I end up with something completely different from what I expected.

I started crocheting when I was a teenager in the 60's making cardigans, dresses and even a catsuit for my 21st birthday, but went on to cross stitching and didn't do any crocheting for many years, but now (after I have retired) have taken it up again, making hats, shawls, scarves, flower brooches, mittens and teddy bears for friends' babies.
